PAVA/BGM systems in healthcare facilities should provide operators with the ability to initiate live paging to any specific ward or clinic from the master desktop paging microphones or through remote IP-based desktop paging microphones, which are installed usually at nurse stations. The only exception for the nurse station microphone is the ‘authority level’ to page its specific zone only or any predefined zone.
The highest priority is given to the master desktop paging microphone to override the remote ones.
The live paging function could be used for an emergency purpose like a ‘Code Blue’ announcement for the staff or an ‘Evacuation’ announcement for the staff and visitors to evacuate the building.
In case of an alarm, the PAVA controller is triggered from the fire detection system to initiate the automatic pre-recorded messages. Live evacuation paging is used to override the automatic messages to provide better guidance to building occupants.
For such a critical application, operators demand a one-to-one redundancy configuration. Therefore, redundant amplifiers are used to avoid any single point of failure.
